Started packing

On Friday morning we signed the contract so now we can start to look forward to the move. We are using a moving firm which of course will cost a bit but it will be worth it. We have started packing now so the flat is a total mess. Boxes and stuff everywhere..

Everything that fits in a box should be put in a box

Bidding is over

The bidding for the flat is now over and tomorrow we are signing the contracts. We're very pleased with the amount we are getting (1.720.000 sek = £135.400) but we will not celebrate until the contract is actually signed. The flat started at 1.450.000 so it went up a lot, a lot more than we had expected or hoped for. We were lucky to have a few bidders that were really keen to get the place. I am very curious to see who has bought our beloved flat. I do hope they are good people that will treat the place nicely. ;-)

So at the moment we are this happy:

Bid time

The bidding for the flat has started now. It was a bit of a slow start but then one bidder made a big raise. Hopefully someone will follow.. If not we are quite happy with the top bid right now.. Here you can see the bidding online.. Just click on S:t Olofsgatan 60A and you will see the bids.

I have fed Elias avocado for the first time today. I can't say he looked that impressed. He ate about a quarter of the avocado and with every spoon he made a "why are you feeding me this??"-face. It probably didn't help that I laughed at him ;-)

Had him weighed and measured today. See in the top right corner for the new data.

Food and drink

I guess you all know that our little boy has a good appetite and here are a few pictures of him in action eating his favourite snack "majskrokar" (corn hooks).

Yum... Corn hooks.... Mmmm

They make me quite thirsty though...

The showing of the flat yesterday went well by the way. On Saturday we were a bit worried because the weather was horrid but on Sunday it was a beautiful day, the sun was actually shining. About 25 couples came to the showing and 10 signed the "interest list". There is a second showing on Tuesday and on Wednesday the bidding starts.. We are quite nervous!!

Crawl bootcamp

Today we have had a fun filled (ha!) day of cleaning. Tomorrow at 3 pm is the showing of the flat and we are trying our best to make it look nice. In fact it probably looks better than ever tomorrow. Typical.. Anyway, hopefully a lot of people will come and make loads of bids. Here you can see our flat online. Click on the text "Visa samtliga bilder i stort format" to see more pictures. (The link will only work until the flat is sold, so hopefully not much longer... )

Apart from cleaning we have also played a lot with Elias and tried to get him to crawl. He still can't do it but he seems to be getting closer and closer. To the right you can have a guess on when you think he will master the skill of crawling.

Look at daddy. Stand on your hands and knees..

There we go! Now you just have to learn to move forward.

No tooth, no crawl

After the fever Elias got a bit of an upset stomach for a few days but now he is well again. We thought he might be getting a tooth because he had the fever and the bad stomach but no. He is still a toothless boy... While he had his upset stomach we fed him blueberries which looked a bit funny...

It feels like a very exciting time now with loads happening. Elias is getting more and more mobile even though he is still not crawling. We can see that he is really trying
and he quite often gets frustrated when he can't get to a toy he is reaching for. A few of the babies in the parent group are crawling now and it looks like so much fun. Because Elias is quite big I guess it might take him a bit longer to get the hang of crawling but I hope he gets there soon. Mind you, if he takes after me he won't crawl at all. I just sat on my bum and used my legs to pull myself forward. Hard to explain but very efficient!

Anyway, this blog isn't about me.. ;-) Here are a few pictures of what he looks like attempting to get places.
From sitting he stretches and stretches until he finally flips over to his stomach. There he sometimes lifts up his bum and rocks a bit but usually he gets frustrated after a few seconds. If he goes anywhere it is usually backwards...

He does manage to move short distances but he hasn't worked out a technique for it so it is more chance when he gets somewhere. And quite often he gets stuck in a corner or something.

Happy New Year!!!

Christmas up in Luleå was very nice even though the weather let us down a bit. The first week Elias and I was there it was above 0 degrees every day. Luckily not all snow melted and by the time Dave, Joyce and Max came it had gotten a bit colder as well. On Christmas Eve we went to my aunts summer house and had a great time. Glögg, food and Santa. Unfortunatelly Elias had to go to bed before Santa came, but he got his presents anyway. We were a bit chocked at the amount of presents he got - Thank you everone!!!

On the 29th we drove back south again. We decided to go during the night and it turned out to be the right decision. Elias slept the whole way! Dave was a hero and drove the whole way, I offered to drive too but I guess he was in "the zone" and didn't want to give up the steering wheel. We arrived about 2.45 in the morning so the next day was a bit tough but ok.

On New Years Eve we went round to our friends Anna and Patrik and their little boy Jacob. There was another family there as well, Magnus, Maria and Jolin. We had a really nice evening and stayed until 1.30. I wanted to stay longer but next day I was glad that we left when we did. ;-)

The new year hasn't started great though I must say. Elias got a fever a few days ago and has been pretty poorly. Now he is better although he still has a slight temperature. He has slept loads and hardly eaten anything (he has been drinking water though). Times like these it is nice to have a big and chubby baby, it doesn't matter so much then if he eats less for a few days.

On Monday Dave goes back to work and it will be quite a big change for me. Since December 16th I haven't been on my own with Elias!
