DIY frenzy

Apart from making a baby, getting married, going on honeymoon and changing job, we have also managed to do some DIY at home. (DIY = Do It Yourself)

The hall
Ever since moving in to the flat, Vickan has had plans to redo the hall. It took a while to figure out what we really wanted to do, but finally we started in October. First we stripped down all the wallpaper and left behind a worringly crumbly wall. We were forced to "spackle" the whole thing, a job we were quite worried about but it turned out to be quite easy.

After the spackling came the quite horrible job of sanding the walls. We were breathing in spackle dust for days and the hoover had to work very hard.

Finally the walls and the roof were ready to be painted. And just to prove that Vickan did work too, here is a picture of it.

Next step was to get a shoe rack up on the wall and to put up the wallpaper. The shoe rack was easy to do but the wallpaper was a bit of a challenge since we were both wallpapering virgins. We almost came to blows when we put it up and it ended up a bit wonky, but all in all it was good enough and we are pleased with the end result.

Now all that remained was to put up a little partition, coat-hangers and to wait for the delivery of our chest of drawers. The hall was finally completed in the middle of January.

We have other DIY projects going on at the moment, but we don't have time to write about it now..
